How to master the art of outfit planning:

Let me introduce you to the saviour of your summer holiday style: outfit planning. My “For You Page” has recently been full of guys and girls planning their Ibiza fits or a week’s worth of outfits for their August trip to Mykonos.

From apps to online shops and colour schemes, this is you guide to an organised, budget friendly, stylish summer.

It all starts with a mood board, by creating a general idea of what you’re wanting, its then easier to create outfits from that.

For starters I’d say forget the budget, collect images of outfits you love, Pinterest is a good place to start, and get an idea of what vibe you’re wanting to go for. For example, is it floral and pastel, vibrant and glittery, floaty or figure hugging.

Colours:

The colours you choose to wear, are a personal choice, specific to what suits you best. But some key colours for this S/S are orange, red, blue and pink. Take some swatches of what you like best, the different hues and shades. Make them the background of your mood board.

Experiment with what colours go well together, for summer there might be a lot of oranges and pinks / blues and yellows. Patterns such as florals or animal print are big too.

Apps:

Though Adobe has some great creative apps that allow you to bring visions to life, my go to is Canva. Its free to use and has loads of tools to create the perfect plan. Alternatively, you could make a board on Pinterest.

Shops:

High street shops right now are hitting the target. Zara is full of leopard print dresses and tops; Primark has affordable luxury with its Rita Ora collections and H&M have all the basics you could ever need. For dresses for all occasions, try Pretty Little Thing, Club L London, or if you have a bit of cash to splash, Rat and Boa and House of CB have some gorgeous evening wear.

Inspo:

TikTok is your knight in shining armer. A lot of us love fashion, but finding clothing can be overwhelming. There are specific TikTok accounts out there such as @styledbyllb and @styledbyh3r you can follow to get inspired. I am also off to Italy in August for 9 days so look out for the new ‘Inspo’ page popping up on my blog to see my mood boards.

So…when you next get a spare hour, sit down with a cup of tea, a biscuit and open your laptop. Start planning now and you’ll have the perfect holiday fits for this summer.
